Blogs = Pubs

Asked by an interviewer why more politicians are blogging these days (October 1, 2006 on BBC World Service) Professor Michael Cornfield, director of George Washington University’s Democracy Online Project, replied:

"Blogs are like virtual pubs."

It doesn’t matter whether you’re in consumer products PR, high-tech marketing, politics, or something else, it’s always about connecting with your audience.

Blogs are like virtual pubs… gotta love it.

  1. Half pint of lager would do nicely, thanks very much… :-)

  2. For thos of you out there that may be disillusioned by the traditional church as I find myself to be in the last two years or so, blogs are also the virtual churches. Google the Emergent Church or the Emergent Conversation and look how spirituality survives in this tech-obsessed culture. It is amazing. Blogging is so many things to so many people but I think, all in all, it is conversation without boundaries.

    drew.

  3. I love the diversity of comments here, from Serge’s hedonistic one to Drew’s spiritual one :-)

  4. Hello, my name is Ike, and I am a recovering blog-a-holic.

    “HELLO IKE!”

    It’s been 53 days since I got sober…

  5. It kinda looks like you fell off the wagon…

  6. With a nickname like mine (Pub) I knew I was destined to be a blogger!
