NMPR’s New Design
Two weeks after I wrote about NMPR’s new direction, this blog’s new look is now complete. Some of you already discovered it on your own, but if you haven’t seen it yet, leave your RSS reader for a minute and take a peek.
Credit goes to my very talented art director friend Bill Green who writes the Make the logo bigger blog. Bill translated my ideas, color preferences, and the overall "feel" I wanted to achieve into a contemporary look.
Aside from the end result which I love, working with Bill was great. He did a magnificent job of finding out what I wanted and why I wanted it, and went the extra mile in getting it done as quickly as possible. Not only that, but he’s very funny, so even when we were up late working on this project, it wasn’t too bad because he’d throw a joke or two out there (and yes, the later it got the worse the humor got — Bill has a wonderfully quirky and edgy sense of humor that comes through on his blog too).
Anyway, here are Bill’s thoughts on the project:
"The main thing I wanted to do with Andrea’s blog was evolve her look by adding life to it. Using new photos and a brighter color palette that played off her love of green does that. In addition to that, the more contemporary look incorporates certain usability features I wanted her to add and address, as well as specific features that are now becoming standard on most blogs.
In keeping with the theme of evolving, this redesign will work to benefit the most important part of her blog: the user. You may notice that over the next few weeks, we will both be fine-tuning the various little ‘extras’ that users see, all in an effort to improve things.
As the saying goes: ‘Remodeling to serve you better.’ "
Thanks Bill!

Very nicely done, Andrea. It’s very clean and also easy on the eyes.
As is she. Apologies, but someone was bound to say it.
Good work but I don’t see any difference on the RSS feed (-;
Very, very nice Andrea!
Nice work Bill and Andrea. Shows how a clear vision and a good brief works well with a talented designer. Makes me want to tackle my own (pub-lic)space
I had noticed, and am impressed. But look under the skin and the writing’s good here; that’s the most compelling thing of all.
Thanks everyone (as well as to those who gave their feedback on earlier posts and via email). If anyone needs an updated look with improved functionality, I definitely recommend getting in touch with Bill.
Thanks for the positive feedback Andrea, not to mention Andrea’s gang.
As for the RSS, it’s but one of many things we revamped. Andrea used FeedBurner before, but now we added more feeds there by incorporating FeedFlare as well a FeedBurner subscrition link via email.
These are things we’ll track over the coming weeks to see if they are making a noticable difference one way or the other.
(subscription) We’re waitng for Spellcheck 2.0 for the next upgrade.
;-p
Um…where’s my cut?
Uh-oh… Pimp Daddy SB in the house.
;-p
Bill, I already commented on Scott’s blog that the free guest-blogging stint doesn’t warrant a cut. He brought up the t-shirt, but then smartly backed-off
A bit late, but congrats on the finishing touch. Especially the new photos look great! (and so does, of course, the rest of the new look too).
